Steven Haft has been a leader in every form of media, public discourse and marketing.
Time Inc is the largest publisher in the US & UK. From its IPO through 2016, as SVP of Innovation at TIME INC. Haft was a full partner in the digital transformation of such iconic brands as TIME, FORTUNE, PEOPLE, InSTYLE, ESSENCE, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, LIFEvr and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
Prior to joining Time, Haft built Indyworks, a media consultancy, where over the past decade he established himself as a thought leader on the impacts of emerging technology on media for clients ranging from the CEOs of Comcast Cable, Macys, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the College Television Network, Vaudeville Ventures, EPIX, The Learning Annex, AirMedia in Beijing and the global Public Relations consultancies – Edelman and Burson-Marstellar.
In 2000, Steven Haft launched his digital career joining AOL, rising to the role of VP/Chief Strategy Officer of AOL’s $1.2 billion Interactive Marketing Group. Haft returned to AOL in 2012-13 as Senior Strategic Advisor.
A veteran story-teller, for more than a decade, Steven Haft produced films and television programs which garnered 8 Academy Award nominations; BAFTA, Cesar, Donatello Awards and, for television, 8 Emmy nominations and the Peabody Award. He filmed throughout the USA, Western and Eastern Europe. Highlights of this work include “Dead Poets Society”, “Emma”, “Pirates of Silicon Valley” and “MADtv”.
Haft is an elected Member of the US & British Motion Picture Academies and Trustee (Emeritus) of Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute. Mayor Bloomberg appointed Haft to the Board of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Corporation for 7 years, home of the largest production stages on the East Coast.
Professionally, Haft was named a Fellow of the Disruptor Foundation by Prof. Clay Christensen of the Harvard Business School, where he completed the Executive Education Program on Leading Change and Organizational Renewal in 2015.
Steven Haft has also been a civic leader around Environmental issues, Human Rights and Arts in Education. He speaks regularly at conferences and universities in the USA, Europe and China.
Haft currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Partnerships Forum, the United Nations NGO and the leading host of initiatives between business, civil society and the UN. He is also Vice Chair of the Presidential Scholars Foundation, a program of the White House and the US Department of Education and STEM Advisor to the Center for the Study of The Presidency & Congress.
A trained Constitutional Lawyer, his years of civic engagement began with Haft’s work for The Mayor of the City of New York and as a global co-founder of EARTH DAY.
Steven Haft is a member of The Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
